(Probably not the conclusion to be drawn here. Thread is about shark attacks)
"I don't know why elves these days complain so much! Most of their work is automated, they just need to monitor the machines. Back in the day all work was done by hand, can you imagine?! And the work hours has never been lower. And still they are whining and I even heard someone talking about going on a strike!" Santa shook his head in disbelief, while the elf he was talking to crossed her arms.
Trans question Show more
Is there anyone here who is a trans adult but who hasn't transitioned for whatever reason - safety, money, cultural, family? I'd like to talk to another person in this position, because it feels like they're as rare as hen's teeth.
Please boost this if you wish, because I'm not sure I have any followers in this position.

So, it's pretty common around here to say that no one person should ever be able to have a billion dollars. But that's framing the problem as something it's not. Having a billion of something is silly and usually shouldn't happen, but it's not the actual issue anyone should try to solve.
If someone had a billion fursonas, would that negatively affect you? No, because the number of fursonas available in the world is not arbitrarily restricted.
And a billion dollars is just a number in some computer somewhere. It doesn't actually mean anything. It shouldn't be able to cause problems for other people.
That's what I keep coming back to: every big problem in the world can basically be boiled down to "they're trying to apply colonialism to X and it's going predictably horribly for everyone involved other than them".
That's the problem. Not some arbitrary system where people store a number in a computer. The fact that money is required to obtain necessities at all.
While napping I had a #WildIdea about strategy / diplomacy game using fashion, fancy ball gowns and international parties to dazzle your opponents and allies and make tactical agreements. All based on a mix of old school RPG-like stats and minigames such as dress building (in form, color and fabric) and dancing (basic rhythm game).
ableism? Show more
After thinking a bit, I'll try to transition my use of the #CrazyIdea hashtag to instead use the #WildIdea hashtag.
I've tried to get some feedback a few times on whether my use of the word "crazy" is ableist and harmful, but I didn't get any interaction on it. Now I've come up with a shorter hashtag that is equal in communicating what I want to say with it, so I'll use that instead.
If anyone sees me use the old #CrazyIdea hashtag again, y'all are welcome to remind me to switch.

There's a petition to Save the .org top level domain. Apparently, ICANN could still stop it from being sold.
I know, petitions rarely work, but I also know that _sometimes_ they do.
Please consider signing if you _run_ anything there, or if you _use_ or _care about_ anything that's on a .org domain. Also, boosting this to others who follow you, would be very much appreciated.
This is my absolute favourite wholesome meme template.

i think there is a pressure onhere to be sharp and funny all the time, because that’s the kind of text that gets picked up and passed around because people enjoy it. that’s exhausting though, and it’s not something everyone’s good at anyway! i hope people onhere can feel free to be dull and normal and sincere and not particularly witty and just talk about normal stuff that’s on their minds, and know that it’s appreciated that we can all share these pieces of our selves with each other.
